Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce

– “Shining Star” – Business of the Month

Santa, elk, lights, tractors and one REALLY BIG TREE!

Today is the day to MARK YOUR CALENDAR for all of the upcoming events and activities that are starting this month in celebration of the holiday season, most importantly, when Santa comes to town!!

home-town-holidays-2016 Saturday, November 26th the Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting our annual “Home Town Holidays” event.  At 1:15 p.m. the Sequim City Band will be performing and at 2 p.m. Santa will arrive into the center of town (the corner of Sequim Ave. and Washington St. – otherwise knows as Centennial Place) with his “Irrigation Royalty Elves” to delight the crowd!  Bring your cameras and charge your cell phones as Santa will be there for the better part of the afternoon for photo-ops while local artists/musicians perform in the background.

While you are there, you will be able to guess the number of lights on the giant fir tree that will be decked with holiday baubles and tinsel for all to enjoy!  At 5 p.m. there will be the ceremonial, annual tree lighting, which always thrills those in attendance.  Guessing the number of lights on the tree might be even easier once they are turned on, so your chance to enter the contest will extend past the tree lighting.  The closest guess will be awarded $100!

Immediately following the tree lighting, the Sequim Museum has organized the second annual lighted tractor parade through town called the “Sequim Tractor Cruize & Shine” harking back  to Sequim’s farming days (and showcasing current farming apparatus as well!)tractor-parade-2016

Many local businesses will be hosting special events in their stores and some will be staying open late so that you can not only kick-start your holiday shopping, but you can celebrate “Shop Local Saturday” which is also that day.  Will you already have your Christmas shopping done by that time?  Well, then perhaps you will want to make a wish list so that your late-shopping loved ones can support local, small businesses while they buy for YOU?!  In addition, you will be able to take the kids around to get started on their annual scavenger hunt game “Elk on a Shelf” which also kicks off that day!  You and your kiddos will be able to get game cards at the Home Town Holidays event or at participating business!  If you don’t know about Elk on a Shelf, click here for more details!

Looking forward to seeing all of Sequim come downtown for a lovely and well-loved tradition!
